Boys Golf | Sunny Week Brings Out the WinsGolf 05.12

BOYS GOLF HAS been trying to hit its stride during a season filled with multiple cancellations due to inclement weather, bedeviling several Jags’ attempts to gain a consistent swing.
This week’s sunny days helped bring those swings into focus as the Jags faced stiff competition at the Dearborn Elite Tournament on Mon., May 8.
FJA led on the day with sophomore Jordan Salesin shooting an 84, followed by sophomore Joey Gordon with an 89.
On Tues., May 9, the boys returned to more familiar territory when taking on Catholic League foe Shrine High School at Knollwood Country Club. The Jags took the win in a 186-187 squeaker (remember the lowest score wins in golf).
Salesin again lead the way with a 9-hole score of 45, followed by seniors Jacob Martin at 46 and Jason Ernst with 47. The Jags trailed by seven strokes before Gordon sunk a clutch putt on the final hole to secure the come-from-behind victory.

Girls Soccer | Stars Outshine the Jags

THE FORMIDABLE “STARS” of St. Catherine of Siena Academy rolled onto Partrich Field early this week looking to blind the Jags with their sheen. While the scoreboard didn’t reflect our cats’ efforts, several players stood out for their performances.
Senior goalie Allison Bloomberg was kept busy, making 21 saves and setting a new standard for the position at FJA. Seniors Ilana Weinfeld, Jordyn Cranis and Sidrah Kovan played notable defense; sophomore Rebecca Einstandig and freshmen Elisha Cooper formed a dynamic duo in mid-field. In the end, the Stars outshined the Jags 8-0.
