Jags Battle League Foe:
Golfers Challenge the Best in the State
In an effort to best prepare for the upcoming MHSAA Division 4 Tournament season, the boys’ golf team played in the Dearborn “Elite” Tournament, an event consisting (with the exception of the Jags) of all of the top local MHSAA public schools in the area.
The team finished 16th in the 20 team field, but when one considers that most of these schools have senior classes that are three or four times the size of FJA, it puts our talent into perspective.
Jacob “Hollywood” Martin fired an outstanding 85 to pace the team, followed by Jason Ernst’s 90 and brother Matt’s 91. Tyler Presser closed the team, scoring a 108 to complete the team score at 374 on a challenging Donald Ross layout at Dearborn Country Club. Garrett “Rocket” Smith filled out the fifth spot and shot a 123 for his first 18-hole score under tournament  conditions.
Girls’ Tennis Finish Second in the Catholic League
The girls’ tennis team completed what may have been the most successful regular season in program history with a 5-3 victory over Bishop Foley. The team victory raised the girls’ record to an impressive 6-2-1 mark and a second place finish in the challenging Catholic League. The girls will now advance to the MHSAA Regional Tournament on Friday, May 20, where they will compete for a spot in the state finals.
