Everest Holds Off Varsity Jaguars’ Late Rally
A double-digit lead did not prevent the FJA Jaguars from making a late rally to tie the game. Everest Collegiate began the game by utilizing their fast-paced offense to build an early lead. The two teams battled back and forth, exchanging baskets throughout the second half. A fourth quarter run helped Everest Collegiate pull away and eventually win the game 59-49. Senior Adam Schlussel had a strong third quarter, finishing the game with 12 points. The Jags will return home against Cristo Rey on January 26.
Varsity Girls Play Tough Against Cristo Rey
The Jags welcomed Cristo Rey to the JCC on Wednesday night for a Catholic League Division contest. The girls battled the much taller Cristo Rey team all night, holding them off the boards for the majority of the game. The difference in the score was determined at the free throw line as Cristo Rey shot 30 free throws on the night. Allison Bloomberg, who put in 13 points, led the Jags on the scoreboard. FJA girls basketball will return to action after exams on January 25 vs. Lutheran South at 5:00 pm in the JCC.
